She Writes Her Trauma is a healing initiative by A Beautiful HEART Ministries that empowers women to reclaim their stories through writing. This transformative program creates a safe space for justice-impacted women, survivors of abuse, and those who have carried silent pain to put words to their wounds and purpose to their pain. Through guided storytelling, journaling, and creative expression, participants learn that their voices matter, their stories have power, and their healing can inspire others. Because when a woman writes her trauma, she begins to write her freedom.

Our Story
A Beautiful HEART Ministries was founded in Danbury, Connecticut, in 2017 by Dr. Clover A. Perez, after witnessing an alarming number of women and girls returning to prison shortly after their release. Determined not to let that be her reality, Dr. Perez sat down with these women to understand why they were coming back. What she heard were stories filled with trauma, loss, and barriers that had gone unaddressed for far too long. What she discovered was heartbreaking, but it also ignited a movement.
From those conversations came a vision: to build a community where women and girls are seen, supported, and given the tools to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. Today, A Beautiful HEART Ministries stands as a beacon of healing and transformation, serving thousands of justice-impacted women, girls, and gender-fluid individuals across New York and beyond.
